Alexander Hansebout

Alexander is an attorney and arbitrator focused on international disputes. He has extensive experience in complex disputes concerning a broad range of issues including: commercial and contractual matters; liability and insurance; insolvency-related matters; and the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. He has in-depth knowledge of distribution, agency, franchising and brokerage agreements in their respective international contexts.

His experience in the art sector mainly relates to the purchase and sale of works, intermediaries, sponsorship agreements, authenticity and the chain of title. Alexander is a frequent speaker and author, including on issues related to intermediaries, arbitration and private international law.

Alexander’s law practice has included arbitration and mediation since 2001. He has served as Arbitrator in a wide range of commercial disputes at both the domestic and international level.

He is a member of CEPANI and the International Bar Association. He is highly involved in the Belgian Franchise Federation. He is Co-Founder of the Belgian Chapter of the Club Español del Arbitraje and a member of the Council of the Brussels Bar (Dutch language section).

Alexander’s educational background includes: CEPANI Arbitration Classes (Belgium - 2016); MSc International Business (Aston Business School, UK - 2001); Lic. Juris (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium - 2000); International Exchange Programme (Universiteit Stellenbosch, RSA - 1999); and Cand. Juris (Université de Namur, Belgium - 1997). He is fluent in Dutch, English and French.
