Alexandra is a dual-qualified Dutch and Swiss lawyer. She acts as an attorney in international commercial litigation and arbitration cases, focusing on contract law disputes and construction and engineering cases. She also sits as arbitrator in ICC, NAI, UNUM and ad hoc arbitrations. Alexandra teaches International Private Law at the University of Amsterdam and regularly lectures on international arbitration in the Netherlands and abroad. She is the co-author of the Dutch chapter of the Practitioner’s Handbook on International Commercial Arbitration (2019). Alexandra is a member of the ICC Netherlands Commission on Arbitration and ADR. She was appointed to the original Arbitration pool of CAfA in January 2020.
Alexandra is experienced in art law disputes. She has recently represented one of the heirs in the settlement of an estate comprising a significant collection of Old Master paintings and has assisted a client in retrieving a valuable antique enameled timepiece from a Swiss auction house following a failed auction. She has also advised a renowned Amsterdam-based museum in relation to the commercialisation of reproductions of paintings in its collection. In the entertainment sector, Alexandra has acted as counsel for television production companies in arbitration. She regularly advises actors in the fashion industry regarding contractual issues.
Alexandra‘s educational background includes a Swiss law degree from the University of Fribourg (1995, bilingual degree French-German, magna cum laude) and a Dutch law degree from the University of Amsterdam (2002). Her working languages are Dutch, English, French, and German.
