Marta Silvia Cenini, professor of civil law, lawyer at Vicari Avvocati

Marta Silvia Cenini is an attorney, mediator and arbitrator focused on art law, property law, entertainment and commercial law. She is a lawyer at Vicari Avvocati, a boutique law firm that advices clients in trusts and art law. Before that, Marta was a founding member of the Art Law practice at DLA Piper in Italy. Marta is also a Faculty of the PhD Program at the University of Insubria, where she is the Scientific coordinator of a series of lectures and webinars on Art Law, Ethics and Policy. She is the author of several publications on Art Law, including the book “Trusts, artistic estate and collections” and papers on the national and international circulation of cultural property, art market, art foundations, charities, deaccessioning, succession of artistic estates. Forthcoming publications include an article on Art Investment Funds and one on cultural business. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Journal of Arts and Entertainment Law.

Marta Cenini is a frequent speaker in Italy and abroad on issues related to art law and business and has organized several events and seminars on the topic.

Marta Cenini’s law practice has included arbitration and mediation since 2004. She has served as legal Counsel in a wide range of art law and commercial disputes at both a domestic and international level. She is an expert member of SIEDAS, Società Italiana Esperti di Diritto delle Arti e dello Spettacolo (Italian Society of Experts in Arts and Entertainment Law), member of Civilisti Italiani, Associazione per lo studio del diritto civile, member of SISDiC, Società Italiana degli Studiosi del Diritto Civile, member of SIRD, Società Italiana per la Ricerca nel Diritto Comparato. She has participated as faculty and judge at law school, Bar Association and other Commissions, being a member of the jury in public and private competitive procedures and in the national bar exam.

She was appointed to the CAfA Arbitration Pools in May 2021.

She is a Professional Advisor to Italian and foreign cultural foundations, private and public museums, commercial trusts and charities, private individuals. She is also a professor of civil law at the University of Insubria.
Marta Cenini’s educational background includes: J.D. and LL.M. in Law, University of Milan; PhD in Law, University of Turin; M.A. in Contemporary Art Theory, Goldsmiths College, University of London; B.A. in piano, Conservatory of La Spezia. She is admitted to the Bar of Milan.
