Duarte G. Henriques is an attorney and arbitrator focused on art law, copyright, entertainment and commercial law, as well as investment arbitration, construction and technology disputes. He is a founding member of Victoria Associates and the author of a number of articles dedicated to international arbitration. Forthcoming publications include an article on Procedural Implications of Good Faith and Duty of Arbitrators and Arbitral Institutions – ASA Series, 2022. Duarte G Henriques is a frequent speaker in arbitration related events.
Duarte G Henriques’ law practice, started in 1988, has included arbitration since 2000. He has served as Arbitrator in a wide range of disputes at both the domestic and international level. He is a member of the International Arbitration Association (IAI Paris), ICDR-AAA Panel, HKIAC Panel, the Tech List of the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (Reserve Panel of Arbitrators), the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), and the Arbitral Tribunal of the International Film and Television Alliance (IFTA). He was appointed to the Arbitration and Mediation pools of CAfA in November 2022.
He is member of the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center, Chairman of the Portuguese Insurance Arbitration Center, Member of the International Advisory Board of the Vienna International Arbitration Centre and member of a number of international arbitration organizations, such as ICCA, Swiss Arbitration Association, and the London Court of International Association European Users’ Council. He is member of the ICC Task Force on Financial Institutions and International Arbitration and of the Task Force on Third-Party Funding in International Arbitration of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) & Queen Mary University of London Law School – London. He is member of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association.
Duarte G Henriques’ educational background includes: law degree (Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon 1988), post graduation in Accounting, financial analysis and business assessment (University Nova of Lisbon 1998) and post graduation in International Trade Law (Contracts and International Arbitration) - Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon 2004-2005. His training includes the Advanced Training PIDA – Advanced Training in International Commercial Arbitration – ICC Paris 2013, and the Advanced Practice Seminar - Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) in 2014, 2015 and 2018.
