Gunna Freivalde

Founder and Managing Partner at AMG Attorneys S.L.

Gunna is an attorney focused on art and cultural property law, copyright, trademark, and cross-border transportation law. She is the founder and managing partner of AMG Attorneys S.L., a boutique law firm with offices in Belgium, Spain and UK specialized in art and cultural property law, which she founded in 2017 after a career at law firms in Switzerland and Russian Federation. Gunna is also a certified art appraiser in Spain.

Her law practice includes litigation and alternative dispute resolution, authenticity disputes, wrongful attribution, collection management at both the domestic and international level and she has counseled on a wide range of disputes involving the acquisition and lending of artworks. She counsels collectors on authenticity or art sales, art galleries on representation and exposition agreements, artists on representation and estate management.

Gunna also provides appraisals for insurance, transportation, and lending purposes and has written several articles with gallery management, contractual liabilities issues as well as she is a guest lecturer in art law in several Universities across the globe and is regularly speaking in webinars related to the art law.

Gunna has participated as prosecutor at the International Bar Association Moot Court Competition, the largest competition simulating the proceedings of the International Criminal Court and she serves as a board member of various organizations in the art sector. She is a member of Association Belge pour le Droit d´Auteur, Asociación de Escritores y Artistas Españoles. She was appointed to the original Arbitration and Mediation pools of CAfA in November 2022.

Gunna´s educational background includes Diploma in Art Law from the UK-based Institute of Art and Law, a law degree at Swiss Law School, several continued professional development training certificates recognized in the US and UK, art appraisal and judicial expert in artworks at The University of Nebrija in Spain. She speaks and works fluently in English, French, Spanish, German and Russian and has working knowledge of Portuguese.
