Michael A. DeMarco

Michael is an attorney, mediator and arbitrator focused on art law, civil litigation, and white collar crime, with over 30 years of experience in high level Commercial and International Litigation, having worked from the U.S. and Europe over the last 15 years.

He currently represents the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston, Massachusetts, which is the fifth largest museum in the United States. The MFA contains more than 450,000 works of art, making it one of the most comprehensive collections in the Americas. Additionally, for the past ten years, he has represented sovereigns including Italy, Spain, France, Ecuador, and Peru. He was appointed to the original Arbitration pool of CAfA in January 2020.

Michael has written and lectured on various topics of interest on trial practice. Articles he has authored include (and are not limited to) “Representing a Client with Insurance” (Michael DeMarco and Thomas Lammert) and “The Role of the Company Witness” (1999).

Michael is a Fellow of The International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and fellowship is extended by invitation only to 500 of the best trial lawyers in the United States and 30 foreign countries. He is also a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and fellowship is limited to the top 500 trial lawyers in the United States and abroad. He has been listed as a Best Lawyer in America since 2003 in the areas of commercial litigation, criminal defense – white collar, and personal injury litigation – defendants. He has also been listed in Super Lawyers since 2004. Since 2018, he has been listed as one of America’s Top 100 Attorneys in Massachusetts. He has also been listed in Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America” and “500 Leading Litigators in America.” Michael’s peer rating in the Martindale-Hubbell directory is AV® Preeminent (Very High General Ethical Standards and Legal Ability Rating). He has also been recognized by Chambers USA as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.”
