Shawn Conway

Shawn represents and advises multinational and other internationally operating companies on international dispute resolution as well as transactions.

He is an arbitrator, mediator, and counsel. He is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (Paris), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and until January 2019 a member of the CIArb Board of Management (UK). He is a listed Arbitrator at the International Center for Dispute Resolution / American Arbitration Association, the Netherlands Arbitration Institute, and US Council for International Business (ICC). He serves on the Board of the Court of Arbitration for Art and was appointed to the original Arbitration pool of CAfA in January 2020.

He is certified as a Mediator with the International Mediation Institute, having previously qualified as Mediator for the Netherlands Mediation Institute, the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (UK), the ADR Centre for Commerce and Industry (Netherlands), and the Rotterdam District Court. Shawn is admitted to the bar in the United States (District of Columbia and Illinois) as well as The Netherlands. He publishes, publicly speaks, and gives law school lectures regularly on dispute resolution topics

Shawn serves and has served in leadership positions on several international dispute resolution organizations including: ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (2015 – present); Court of Arbitration for Art Board Member (2019 to present); Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (2017 – 2019); Board Member and Founder of the International Mediation Institute (2007 - 2018); Board Member and Secretary of the American Chamber of Commerce of The Netherlands (1998 - 2008) and Board Member and Founder of the Netherlands Mediation Institute (1995 - 2009)

His professional education includes: Master of Laws (Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands), Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) (University of Notre Dame, USA) and Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) (Northern Illinois University, USA). His working languages are: English, Dutch, and Spanish.
