Steven Skulnik

Steve is an attorney, mediator and arbitrator focused on commercial law. He is the Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the New York City Bar Association and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is the author of “Separability of Arbitration Agreements in US Arbitration, Practical Law The Journal - Litigation, (June/July 2019) other articles. He is also co-author a book chapter on Arbitration Ethics in “Arbitrating Commercial Disputes in the United States" (PLI 2018). Steven is a frequent speaker on issues related to arbitration law and practice.

Steve has been an arbitrator and mediator since the 1990's. He has served as Arbitrator and Mediator in a wide range of commercial disputes at both the domestic and international level. He also has experience in disputes over the ownership of antiquities. Steven is on the AAA/ICDR Commercial and International rosters of arbitrators and mediators and is an arbitrator on the CPR roster. He is also a court-appointed mediator for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court. He was appointed to the original Arbitration and Mediation pools of CAfA in January 2020.

Steve is a Member of the New York State Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section and past Co-chair of its Arbitration Committee and is a Member of the International Arbitration Club of New York, the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC), and the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center (SVAMC).

Steve's educational background includes: Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (J.D. 1983); Brandeis University (B.A. Economics 1980).
