Yasmin Mahmoudi

Yasmin is an attorney focused on art law, copyright, intellectual property and commercial law. She has started off her career as Associate at the IP/Litigation department of Clifford Chance, LLP in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. For the foundation of a law firm with a specialization in art law she received an award as co-founder of the best new law firm that was appointed, i.a., by the German Bar Association and the newspaper FAZ. She is co-publisher and author of the Festschrift Kunst – Wissenschaft-Recht-Management with well-known artists and art lawyers as co-authors such as Prof. Matthias Weller, Prof. Erik Jayme; Tony Cragg and Markus Lüpertz. In a commentary on the German Capital Investment Code she has contributed together with Prof. Dr. Dr. Peter M. Lynen a book chapter on Art Funds. She is a member of PAIAM - (Professional Advisors to the international art market) and IFKUR (Institute of Art and Law in Heidelberg). Yasmin was a lecturer at AMD and taught graduate students in Art Law and Copyright. She is a frequent speaker, e.g. at Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, at the University of Cologne, Regensburg and Ludwigshafen. She has published extensively in magazines, newspapers and books on issues related to art law and business, e.g. recently in the Austrian Art Law Bulletin on the EU regulation on import of cultural goods.

Yasmin’s law practice has included arbitration and mediation since she had the opportunity to attend a deposition in an arbitration as a trainee solicitor in Miami/Florida in 2004. In 2011 she participated in an ICOM-WIPO Workshop for Mediators in Art and Cultural Heritage in Paris. She was appointed to the original Arbitration and Mediation pools of CAfA in January 2020.

Yasmin’s educational background includes: Law at University of Bonn in Germany and Law and French at Université de Lausanne in Switzerland. Attorney in Germany since 2004; appointed specialist lawyer for intellectual property law since 2011; Graduated from Institute of Art & Law, UK with Diploma in Art Law in 2008.
