Zhibek is an attorney, arbitrator focused on art law, copyright, corporate, finance, energy and commercial law with experience of more than 15 years working in Kazakhstan and CIS countries. She was the lecturer of Environmental and Business law courses at KIMEP University, and of Legal Regulation in the Field of Culture course at Kazakh Academy of Arts named after T.K.Zhurgenov. Zhibek provided various pro bono art related advice to artists and some public foundations in Kazakhstan and conducted numerous trainings related to IP rights and issues of art objects’ ownership in Kazakhstan, as well as participated in drafting and providing the amendments to the draft Law on Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Zhibek is also the founder of KEREMET Art project which promotes the art events, art objects and supports the art business transactions. She is a frequent speaker at various regional and international conferences, founder of the KERMET International Art Business Conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan focusing on issues of appraisal, transportation, insurance, due diligence of art objects, relationships between state, museums, galleries, and artists.
Zhibek’s law practice started in 2004, and has included arbitration and mediation since 2008. She has served as Arbitrator and Mediator in a wide range of commercial disputes at both the domestic and international level. Zhibek is the member of International Bar Association, KazBar Chamber of legal consultants, Kazakh Petroleum Lawyers’ Association. She is also the Arbitrator of Atameken Arbitration Center under National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Jus International Arbitration, Russian Arbitration Center under the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration. She was appointed to the Arbitration pool of CAfA in January 2020.
Zhibek’s educational background includes: Kazakh Humanitarian Law University (LLB in international law); Queen Mary University, University of London (2007-2008, LL.M. in international business law); summer business school at Lehigh University, PA, USA (2009). She is a native Kazakh speaker and fluent in Russian as well as English.
