Kartikey Mahajan, Partner, Khaitan & Co in Singapore

Kartikey is a triple qualified lawyer and arbitrator based out of Singapore. He is the founder of the Singapore disputes practice of Khaitan & Co. Prior to joining Khaitan, Kartikey has worked with Magic Circle and White Shoe American law firms in London and Singapore.

His practice focuses on international arbitration and commercial litigation with a cross-border element. Kartikey is a thought leader in the field of international arbitration and commercial disputes. Who’s Who Legal recognizes him as a Future Leader in the “Thought Leader – Global Elite 2023” category.

He appears as an advocate in his arbitrations and has also sat as an arbitrator in several matters. Kartikey has experience in representing clients in institutional (including under ICSID, SIAC, ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, AAA-ICDR and GAFTA Rules) and ad-hoc seated arbitrations in both common law and civil jurisdictions around the world. Kartikey is on the panel of arbitration institutions like SIAC and THIAC.

He has extensive experience in various facets of commercial law, including disputes relating to copyright law, trademark infringement, art law, breach of contract, guarantee, financing and mis-appropriation claims.

Kartikey is a frequent speaker at arbitration conferences, including those of SIAC, ICC, AAA-ICDR, CiArb. He has been invited to give lectures at Harvard Law School, Stanford Law School, Columbia Law School, amongst others. Kartikey is also a prolific writer and his articles have been published in various journals like Journal of International Arbitration and International Arbitration Law Review.

Kartikey also serves as an office bearer on various dispute resolution focused committees. He is a Steering Committee member of the YSIAC Committee since 2019; member of IBA’s International Commercial Arbitration Case Law Committee; and is also serving as a Joint Secretary at the Society of Construction Law (India Chapter). He is Past Secretary of the Asia Pacific Forum for International Arbitration and Steering Committee member of CiArb’s Singapore Young Members Group.

Kartikey did his master’s in law (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School, USA and his undergraduate degree in law (B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.)) from National Law University Jodhpur. Kartikey is qualified to practice law in England & Wales (where he has rights of audience for all courts), the State of New York and India.
